There's a saying that every woman should embark on a solo journey at least once in her life, as this trip will reveal just how strong she is. During the journey, you may encounter many obstacles, but you will overcome them on your own. You might meet new friends and, with the spirit of "ichigo ichie" (treasuring each encounter), listen to their stories... These "core memories" (for those who have seen "Inside Out 2") will help you rediscover yourself. In the future, when you feel vulnerable or helpless, you will remember this trip and tell yourself, "I can do it."Ready to set off? Follow us and embark on that unknown adventure!

Popular Destinations for Women Solo Travelers

1. Taiwan

For your first solo trip, consider Taiwan, just a 1.5-hour flight away! Taiwanese people are known for their hospitality, and there's little language barrier, making it a worry-free destination for solo travelers. If you, like me, love nature, consider visiting Xiaoliuqiu Island. The island is small, and you can easily explore it by renting an electric bicycle. There's no shortage of delicious food, and you can join various experience tours, such as diving or kayaking, ensuring a colorful 3-day, 2-night stay.

2. Japan

Hong Kong people's love for Japan is well-known and needs no introduction. Japan is safe, with convenient transportation, catering to all types of travelers—from the shopping-loving city girl to the foodie, to the nature-loving sun worshipper. Recently, I went on a road trip to Furano, where you can enjoy beautiful flower fields in summer and go skiing in winter. I visited during the off-season, around May, when there were fewer tourists, making it a quiet and comfortable experience.

3. South Korea

South Korea is a paradise for food lovers, with countless photo-worthy cafes, street food, and heartwarming stone pot rice. Even alone, you can fill your soul with happiness through delicious food. Seoul, Busan, Jeju Island, and other cities are popular solo travel destinations. There are many online resources and itineraries for solo travelers; consider them before you go!

4. Sweden

Solo travel might not always be about the experience of eating, shopping, and playing but rather personal and spiritual reflection. If you share this sentiment, consider visiting Sweden, ranked fourth in the 2024 World Happiness Report. The Swedish concept of "Lagom" means "just right," and by interacting with locals, you might rediscover the secret to happiness.

5. New Zealand

With its sparse population and more sheep and cows than people, New Zealand offers not only breathtaking landscapes but is also a haven for extreme sports enthusiasts. Queenstown on the South Island is a major tourist hub. From there, you can visit the Aoraki / Mt Cook National Park in the Southern Alps and choose different trails based on your ability. You can also book guided tours to explore glaciers!

Solo Travel Tips for Women

1. Visa

Different places have different visa policies. Make sure to do your research before traveling to avoid being denied entry due to missing paperwork.

2. Travel Insurance

Travel insurance can protect against various pre-departure accidents and emergencies, such as bad weather or travel advisories, which may cause flight delays or trip cancellations.

3. Travel Light

Traveling alone with too much luggage can be physically challenging and make you a target for thieves. Keep your luggage simple and carry valuable items with you, but not in easily accessible places like your pants pocket.

4. Inform Friends and Family of Your Itinerary

Before traveling, share your travel plans, passport copies, and other important information with friends and family. In case of emergencies, you won't be stranded alone.

5. Maintain a Stable Internet Connection

Having a stable internet connection while traveling solo is crucial. It allows you to stay in touch with friends and family, receive local news and weather updates, and be prepared to adjust your plans as needed.

Have you considered "group travel"?

In recent years, "group travel," where strangers gather to travel together, has become popular. Compared to solo travel, group travel can expand your social circle, find like-minded travel companions, and split costs, saving money for more travel. If you're interested in a road trip, you can take turns driving with your travel companions!
